Pulled...for being young in a nice car?

As I said, I very much doubt it.

In the year I had my first mx5 when I was 18, (and looking about 15) I got pulled over around 10 times. Only once were my details actually checked, the other times it was all of a two minute conversation, most times with them saying it was because it was a very nice car for someone my age.

90k mile 8 year old £3500 car with all of 140bhp... but the general public aren't all that clued up when it comes to cars, they don't sit on the internet like us, for sometimes hours a day, arguing about cup holder circumference and whether or not an RX8 absolutely destroys a BMW "sport" or simply just much better than it handling wise.

If you were doing nothing wrong, does it really matter?

I'd much rather the police were pulling over people who looked a bit dodgy on a hunch, rather than waiting for them to break the law

If you werent driving fast, that implies you were trying to avoid attention and have something to hide.

I love this sentence.

I never once got pulled in my golf which had a huge big bore exhaust on it, driving around Brighton at 3am on my own or with my gf and I look/looked about 15, I have to agree with Fox, it's not what you drive, its how you drive.

I never once had it this despite at the time driving a larger BMW that was newer than an old E46 is now, often late at night on nights out at Uni, people in the car, etc etc.

I'm pretty sure the car is a secondary factor - its your driving style that draws attention to you.

I'd also go for this. 20 years old in a VX220 (was 19 when I bought it) and have never been pulled over. Same for when I've borrowed my Dad's 2 year old 320d when I had just passed my test or his 120d which is now a year old.

In my old car I never got pulled in like 3 years.

Got the Golf GTI and 3 times in less than a year.

I don't see the problem getting pulled. Its an inconvenience but if you've done nothing wrong its not a problem really.

Most will have you on your way pretty quickly.

I got pulled a couple of times in my Supra, and a couple in the Prelude.

Every time I was just driving normally, either on my way to work or to a friends or something. They just asked a couple of questions about the car etc, and also the usual stuff about whether I owned it etc and checked some details and then sent me on my way. Bit annoying but always polite and no harm done really.

One time I got pulled and when they came up to the window were like, sorry mate we got the wrong car, we were looking for a Celica...err ok?!

I was driving a friends bright yellow 220 a few years ago with him as the passanger. He'd asked me to drive it and see if he thought I could feel anything odd about how it drove. So we set off around the block which is around a 1.5 mile route taking a main road for a few hundred yards. Just as we were leaving the main road a police car coming the other way turned on the lights etc and swung round. By this time I'd turned the corner and was making my way down a 30MPH road with lots of speed bumps. So being in the 220 I was going quite slow.

Fast forward to getting pulled over and the first thing the officer says is "So son, why were you trying to speed away from us?"

It's not always about how you're driving.

Yeah this completely, I once got pulled over driving back from uni at 2am with a car full of stuff (end of term), the copper explained that there had been some burglaries in the area recently and were just checking.

I'd much rather police follow their hunches than pandering to political correctness.
