Pump gone?

Hihi, I think my pump has just packed in :(. I built the loop last Christmas so 14 months ago. It is filled with distilled water with a bit of UV green dye from mayhem. Today while I was using it it a very loud knocking noise started from the pump, loud enough for me to jump towards it and get my hand on the psu power switch incase I started seeing water in my case. I left it on for a few minutes whilst tilting my case to try to unblock any blockages but no luck so I turned it off to be safe.

I tried turning it on shortly after and nothing from the pump, pretty sure its not pumping and a CPU temp warning error on bios on startup, which is worrying me a little as I would have thought even if the pump wasnt going, the still water alone would be enough to cool the cpu while not under load, but maybe I am wrong.

Its an alphacool pump - VPP655-OT12, which seem to have a relatively good reputation.

What do you guys think, do I need a new pump? Is there anything else I should try? Any recommendations or go for another alphacool?

Cheers,

If your pumps gone then temps will shoot up as the water isn't flowing through your loop and getting cooled.

Replace your pump and don't use the PC in the mean time.

Ok thanks. Do you guys know if I can reuse the top from my alphacool VPP655-OT12(Came as one unit) on another D5 vario pump like the one you linked or if I will need to buy a different pump top?

Thanks,
Glenn

Awesome, that should save me a little money. I'll order the D5 now and some more distilled water. I plan to drain the system and clean it out over the weekend
