Hiya all.

I got one of these pumps

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-047-AC&groupid=962&catid=1522&subcat=

and when I first set up my loop it was almost silent. Now after a week or so its starting to get louder and louder. In fact is getting quite annoying. A loud whirring sound is the best way to describe it. Ive checked for air bubbles and there arnt any at all. The tubing runs clear and there isnt any trapped in the pump because it has a clear top so I can see.

Now this is the first time ive made a water loop and I was wondering if it was usual for that noise?

The pump has to power

Res > cpu > dual rad > gpu > dual rad > res

all on half inch pipe. Is it to much for the pump??

You know I was going to go for a D5 as well.

Never mind.

Its not that bad just hacks me off a bit because I was looking for silence!

I will know for next time. I put all my fans onto a controller to help with fan noise as well.

I mean its not actually clamped to the case in any way its just screwed into the bottom of my res with 4 screws so I dont think its vibration there.

I might have a play with the fitting of the res in the drive bays and add some rubber there to see if that is maybe some of the problem.

Ah well cheers for your replies.

I'm with Mr.dbristol on this - my own testing has proved that the 10w DDC is noisely let alone the 18w. But with a bit of fan noise it usually inaudable (vibrations can be an issue)

Also agree that under stressing a pump can lead to overspin and noise.
But two blocks and two rads should offer enough restriction to ignore this

does the noise start straight away? - or does it increase as the pc boots?
vibration or small bubbles would be my guess,

are you sure it's the pump? - have you try running the loop with out the fans / hhd active
have you tried holding the pump when running to see if the noise changes pitch?

When i first setup the loop without fan noise or hdd's it was nearly silent. It just seems to be now its making the noise. The problem I have is that because ive modded my antec 1200 to get all my loop mounted internally space really is of a premium now so I cant get my hand in to grab hold of the pump to check for vibrations. I had already thought of that, but seeing as though you have come to the same sort of conclusion as i have I think I will spend the day on monday trying to sure it.
