Currently have an XSPC X20 750 Dual Bay Res/Pump combo, however its pretty noisy. Have tried bay mouting it onto foam and moving it out of the drive bay but the noise seems to be coming from the pump itself, rather than as a result of vibrating on the case. The noise is exactly like the one in this video:

Based on comments and forums it looks as though it could be common on the 750. I'm thinking of replacing this with a new pump and res if needed but not sure I fancy another potentially noisy 750. If I buy a separate pump, can I still use the 750 as just a res without its pump plugged in? Are there any drawbacks to doing this?

As for pumps, the MCP35X looks interesting with PWM control but at around £75-80 its towards the dearer end of the market. The EK DCP 4.0 looks like great value for money at around £40. Obviously it doesn't have PWM or any adjustment but if it's quiet enough I would be happy with that. Has anyone got either of these and can comment on how quiet they are? Or maybe recommend other quiet(ish) pumps?

The Swiftech MCP or Laing DDC's with the built in XSPC res are amongst the quietest and best performing you will get mate. If i wasn't dropping watercooling alltogether - I wouldn't be selling mine lol (dirty plug to check MM :> )

On full pelt I only get a small hum whilst its sat ontop of some foam.

Do you have any videos or anything to show how quiet it is? From looking around the internet some say it's noisy and some say its dead quiet. Noise is so subjective so I guess this doesn't help :(
