hi all
i just recieved some watercooling kit from an ocuk competitor today it was a self contained kit so i foolishly rushing to get it installed and i didnt test it outside of my system. so i plugged everything in an powered up my pc as soon as i pressed the on button there is a crack and a spark from the pump followed by a burning smell and now windows wont recognise my ethernet port and the drivers say no device found also it doesnt light up.
so finaly we get to my question which is where do i stand on claiming from ()(), can i get any compensation for the motherboard from them because they sold me a faulty item which caused the damage or am i screwed?

Should probably remove the name of the competitor.
Get in touch with them, after all, this OverclockersUK forum.

thanks i have removed the name and i will get in touch with them when they are open tommorrow i was just trying to see if anyone on here had experiance with this type of thing or knew of any laws to protect me

I did buy they're install insurance but Ive just ring them and aparantly ot doesn't cover me for my motherboard because I didn't buy them Motherboard from them, so basically they have confirmed that I am screwed. -.- Oh and the unit was the aqua viva I was usin it to cool my north bridge.

I'm afraid you should really have tested it outside the case.

Are you sure the motherboard is completely dry?

Maybe contact the manufacturer themselves as although the pump was the fault and the vendor is only required to replace the faulty unit, the manufacture may not want poor publicity about their product especially as it was a equipment fault and not an installation fault (going on what you have said here).

aparantly coolermaster wont do anything because i cut the tubing to fit my case so that route has been cosed im probably just going to sell the motherboard on mm im sure somebody wont mind a broken ethernet port

Yes I had paper towels covering everthing and it was the pump that blew not my motherboard.

Perhaps you should have used something else to dry it out completely. I'd have left it in the open for at least a few days just to be completely sure.

the thing was there were no leaks and it was completely dry

to be honest if you get really annoying with them, they'll probably sort you out in some sort of way. but you need two nutts made of steel to do that.

sorry to hear about it though.
