Hi I had my audi a3 sportback 1.4 engine for a couple of months and realised last night my rear right has a Puncher.

Do I need to take it to a specific audi or German garage for them to replace the tyre like for like?

I have the s Line version so got 19inch alloys I believe.

Also need the tyre to be balanced calibrated. Better off going to audi or kwik fit or just any garage down the road?

edit:
Hi i tried calling a number of local places included kwik fit and none of them have my tyre!

225/R18/92Y T005

Many have different Thread designs, not my T005!

well if its the 1.4 engine then its surely a write off with all that power i would not trust another tyre on the car from anywhere.

What brand/model tyres are currently on it at the minute e.g. Michelin, Bridgestone, Continental etc.

The tyre size you are providing isn't complete as well, which will be confusing people.

225 is the width, R18 is the rim size (so 18" wheels not 19"), 92 is a load rating, Y is a speed rating.

You are missing a Profile which will be 40 or thereabouts. Not sure where the T005 bit comes into it, but with the right profile and manufacturer no doubt we will find it.

No you don't need to go to Audi, but if you find a cheaper price elsewhere, in my experience they will price match (even against Blackcircles.com and other online retailers)

There was no other profile or data on the tyre. Just those values

Yes there is - read the name of the manufacturer and the model of the tyre. It will be written clearly on the sidewall.

The car needs 225/40/18's which most places will carry in stock. Depending on where the puncture is, it can probably be repaired if you've not driven around with it flat.

If you had driven and the tyre was low but not deflated to a point where the sidewall was considerably "squashed" it's probably ok, otherwise new tyre as you will have damaged the sidewall

If the tyre has been run pancake flat - it'll need a new tyre. If it has been run whilst just low on air (5-10PSI) then it'll be fine to repair, provided it's in the minor repair zone of the tyre (centre 75% IIRC).

Repairs cost around £15 and are an approved to British Standards.

If you need a new tyre, have a look at Oponeo - they often do next day delivery/48hr delivery. If they can't, have a look at Kwik Fit online as they have much better prices than Kwik Fit in branch. The only problem is that Kwik Fit branch can't match Kwik Fit online prices.
