Punctures, punctures, and more ****ing punctures!!

What the hell is going on? I have had 5 punctures on my bike since I bought it 6 weeks ago.

Two of these punctures were on the tyre side of the inner tube, obviously caused by a thorn or heroine addicts needle.

The other three however are all on the side of the inner tube that touches the rim?:confused: I had the first two, took it back, the bloke re-taped it and I picked it up today, went out for a quick 30 this evening and it went A-****ing-GAIN! Why!?

I keep the tyres well inflated, this last time there was a bit of rough tarmac, but the two times prior to this the road has been as smooth as anything and they've still popped.

Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this? The holes in the rim that the spokes are the other side of are partially visible where the rim tape doesn't cover them fully, could this have caused it? Could it be something I'm doing?

I'm totally confused, ****ed off and disheartened as I've lost valuable training time in the last few weeks.

I was looking at these, but the problem I have with them is, if they do puncture for whatever reason, are you not totally screwed? Or are they repairable on the road-side?

I'll have a google and see if I can find them, although I shouldn't have to do this really as the rims shouldn't be chewing up the tubes.



Also, I now need a new sig, what if you have a problem, but aren't sure if there is a solution or not and it's causing you issues? Stupid sig.
 
I couldn't see anything on the rim, I ran my finger around it and all seems fine. I haven't checked the tube this time round, but the previous two times I haven't found anything on either tyre or rim - it's always the rear tyre too, never the front..

Could it be that the rim tape isn't covering the holes properly, does that matter?
 
Well I've checked the rim, and nothing, sure I cans see the edges of a few holes, but no sharp bits at all.:confused: I can't see how to get the rim tape off without damaging it, which I don't want to do as it'll be going back tomorrow.

I just can't see any reason for this happening, if it was on the tyre side, then fine, **** tyres, but the rim side?!:confused:
 
Right, dropped the rear rim off last night, I have no idea what I want him to do with it, but as it's the same tyre doing it I'd be very surprised if there isn't an issue and it's just bad luck.

Screw it, I'm getting the NoTubes kit, I just can't really afford it until next month.:/

Erm, how does the NoTubes kit work? What goes in the hole in the rim?

Sorry to be thick, but I'm not sure I understand it correctly, I need -

Stans No Tubes kit, consisting of 2 x Rim strips, Rim Tape, Tyre Sealant. -

Tubeless Tyres

Which Stans Kit do I need? I can't seem to find a road kit, have you a link?

Which tyres do I need? These?

edit - Rim tape, the shop opens at 9, I'll speak to him then and see what to do. After all the messing about, maybe he'll give me a tubeless kit on a 'buy now, pay next month' deal! (yeah right).

Well, a bit of an update, I took the wheel back, and the bloke has fitted some wider rim tape, which this time covers the holes fully. Went on a 32 miler last night (18.6mph, getting faster!) and no puncture! Yay! I'm doing the same run tonight, and then an 80 mile on saturday, so fingers crossed!

Thanks for all the help and advice everybody.:) Hopefully this will be an end to this thead!
