Punkbuster and Antivirus problem

I'm running a couple of games that require Punkbuster and I've also got Kaspersky internet security 2011, but I've just got the following security alert:

'Application control detected a potentially dangerous modification of the application: PBSVC.EXE

Without a digital signature, having a high danger rating'

...Has anyone else had this notification ? Should I block it/restrict it or Trust it?

Allow it, it is Punkbuster.

Well I temporarily blocked it because I wasn't sure...now I've got to figure out how to unblock it...

I still don't understand why it doesn't have a digital signature though ??

When I first saw it I assumed it was Punkbuster, but it says here that it's a virus (an infected version of PB?)

The official .exe comes under the same name and as you are trying to use it, I think it would be fair to assume it is Punkbuster. Your call.

Ta for your help and yes, PBSVC appears to be the program you use to manually update Punkbuster, which I did also install...it does look as though it has been targeted by hackers in the past, though the filesize checks out correctly. I left it in the untrusted folder and managed to play a PB game though...think I'll leave it there for the time being.
