Hi all,

suddenly i'm getting kicked from COD:WAW server after 1 minute with the a "communication error....punkbusterB...blah blah blah"

I tried uninstalling PB completely and reinstalling it, but get the error
Whenever I run pbsvc.exe I get:

Checking user is Administrator OK
Checking Administrator privileges OK
Opening Service Control Manager OK
Searching for PnkBstrA None Found - OK
Extracting PnkBstrA service OK
Verifying service authenticity ERROR

And then it gives me a popup that says "**ERROR: The extract file failed an authenticity check."
Been searching google, a few other people have had it but they don't seem to have found an answer yet either.
I'm using the rig in my sig (win 7).
I've tried reinstalling from the WAW dvd, I've also tried downloaded new PB files from the evenbalance website. There's nothing in the FAQs about it.
I'm already an admin, but i ran the install as administrator anyway, but to no effect.

Was tempted to do a system restore but have installed Office 2007 since then and don't want the hassle of all the updates again if i do restore back.

The only thing different that happened is that my son went online to play WAW. We only have one purchased copy installed on both pc's so only one can play online at a time. Since he came off, i couldn't get back on due to this PB issue. So he's happy cos he can keep going online to play whilst i'm shafted! :( But i'm not so sure this is the issue. It shouldn't stop me from re-installing PB on my win7 pc.

I guess i could reinstall WAW, but not sure that would fix it either. Plus i may be reformatting the pc with a SSD soon, so i may as well wait if that's the only way to fix it.

Any help aprpeciated.

Have you tried PB.Exe ?
If not Google it & run it,select the game, update,JD.

Must be something the game is doing to protect itself, Re instal I'd say but wait for other ideas/suggestions before you do as I'm not up with W7 at all.

Thanks malc, i fear it may come to that.
just can't figure out why really. Not had any real issues with win7.
Saying that, after uninstalling PB i did a reboot and on restart it did a chkdsk and found loads of errors, which it fixed.
Maybe it borked/deleted a file that is needed, i don't know.

Will await more input, cheers. :)

tried that last night gurusan, still no joy i'm afraid.
I've tried:
  1. uninstalling/reinstalling from WAW dvd.
  2. downloading new PB files (as per your link), reinstalling from that
  3. just using the PB.exe and 'adding game' to the list, then updating (it said no updates needed and report the latest files)
Any more please?

maybe some prog stopping it running vista maybe antivirus .

if you tried update or reinstalling pb then dont know but it normally one of those mentioned.
