Punkbuster on COD4. Help? Getting kicked.

Started playing cod 4 again.
But i cant really play because punkbuster keeps kicking me......
I get the error

[my profile name] Punk Buster kicked player "[myprofile name]" (for 0 minutes)... RESTRICTION:
Service Communication Failure:PnkBstrB.exe initialization failed.


i dont get this with crysis or far cry 2.

Iv tried running as administrator. I read somewhere you need to change ports and stuff but im not doing that every day. every time i restart the pc it just goes back to normal :\ I did try it but didnt work. Firewall is off, tried with on but same thing. Iv tried the pb updater and updated all my games. All at latest version. Still cod4 doesnt work...

help?
 
I got that issue yesterday and tried all of the same things you did to no avail. But eventually found that this worked for me:


First of all uninstall and delete all punkbuster files from your computer, including in the games installation directory.


Create a new folder somewhere with nothing else in it and download both pbsvc and pbsetup

Download pbsvc.exe from here: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php

Download pbsetup here: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php


Once you have both of those in your new folder do the following:


1: Install pbsvc using right click and run or run as administrator if using vista/W7. Follow the installation and let it do its thing.

2: When pbsvc is finished installing and doing its check, restart your PC

3: Navigate back to the folder containing the punkbuster files. This time run/run as administrator pbsetup.exe

4: Follow the installation instructions, choose the game/s from the drop down list to add and then click check for updates.

5: Once the updates are complete you should then be able to play without being kicked.

Hope that works for you.
 
Try going to services and properties of Punkbuster A and B, check 'allow program to interact with desktop'

Then see what happens.

Also use pcsvc.exe and try the 'test services' button. What does it say?
 
I had the same problem run as administrator and have a mic plugged in your mic slot :)
 
Did you install PB when prompted during the COD4 install? I selected no during the WAW install thinking "no I have it already" turns out you need it for each game/install/blah
 
Yes tried both ways.

It should run straight out of the box on Win7. It has on friends PCs and works fine.

Maybe my ISP is blocking some times (BT Unlimited BB Package tho)
