Puppy Broken leg

Wouldn't say that.
Every bit the 'useless' partner didn't do, the owner didn't do either.
So...

Did you miss this post?

Looking for solutions not to be judged. Being a young pup she gets walked Saturday and Sunday and then I walk her 3 days during the week. I've missed 1 day when we had a thunderstorm... Is that good enough for you. The 2 other days my partner is supposed to walk her.

Other than maybe not sorting out the insurance, I wouldn't say they are irresponsible.

Ouch. As a pet owner myself, vet bills are something I also dread. Rather than pay for insurance that goes up most years, I put the money to one side and just pray for the best.

Call around a few vets and see what they say re costs and plans.

There is a vet in Chesterfield who is supposed to be good and he is very cheap so I'm told.

Seriously go to a pdsa hospital and if you feel bad for not paying extortionate amounts drop them a couple 100 £ donation on the way out.

The worst noise I have ever heard is the sound of a dogs scream. It makes me feel so bad.

Slamming the door on the dog though... Could you trust them with anything else? I know I couldn't.

Your business partner should pay for it!

Geez what is it with this forum and dodgy business partners, they selling them in pound land or something?

Well looks like my partner has broken my pups leg. He said he put her outside and closed the door hard and she screamed and started leaping. Fuming to say the least as I knew she was high energy and been telling him to walk the dog for the past few days when it wasn't raining but that never happened.

Anyway.... Also told him to get insurance which he didn't!

Given him so much advice .... But this is the result of not being listened to.

The 2 other days my partner is supposed to walk her.

Some of you lot in here need to get a ****ing grip. It was an accident. So quick to judge other people.

I am judging her partner based on what she has said, and he sounds like a lazy, careless person.

Its difficult not to be judgemental when someone slams a door on a puppy's leg. :(

God knows how much of a hopeless dunce you would have to be to manage that...

I would agree with this.

not really wanting to get involved on ****ging your partner off but he really should be taking more care around a puppy.

as you said yourself you asked him to sort out the insurance and he hasnt.. hes been asked to walk the puppy yet he hasnt.. has this been a regular thing just putting him/her out in the garden rather than walking the pup? just sadly on this occasion the pup has been hurt?

how old is the pup? have you not had the pup at the vets for a check up before and took out a puppy plan? I know this was the first thing we did when we got our pup..

I shut the shed door on my German Shepherd and it broke the shed door!

He was a rather large pup though....

OP, payment plan should be doable - vets realise this sort of unexpected expense happens - invest in insurance also, you could have problems with the leg as the dog grows.

Oh and make him pay!

In the situation that the partner does come across as unreliable, it's understand to be judgemental.

I do feel though that certain posts are being very harsh on the OP.

The only thing I'm getting from this post if you aren't responsible enough to be an owner....

Surely responsible enough to tell someone to do something several times for several days, such as take a dog for a walk, but never bothered to walk the dog yourself!

Poor dog.
Why did you bother with a puppy if you were not prepared to walk it or pay for it?

Wouldn't say that.
Every bit the 'useless' partner didn't do, the owner didn't do either.
So...

Hope everything works out in your favour OP.

Don't mean to judge, only you know best but 'shut the door hard' without checking the pup was fully outside is asking for trouble. Bin him or find the dogs a new owner if he's irresponsible enough to cause [potentially] long lasting damage to the dog that'll cost a fortune(without insurance).

The bills mentioned above make my eyes water, glad I pay the premium for insurance for my 2.

Anyway.... Also told him to get insurance which he didn't! I should have done it myself. Only myself to blame on that one. Went to vets today he said it looks broken but wont know for sure until an xray. Just paid £50 for some injections to make her drowsy and will have to pay a few hundred for x ray tomorrow.

He said if it is broken the bill could run up to a few thousand. I honestly wont be able to afford this so just wondering if vets normally have a payment plan. Its obviously the first thing ill ask tomorrow if the worst news comes back. But if it is and I cant afford.... What then?

1) it's your puppy, you should have got the insurance don't blame someone else
2) as you refer to it as your (my) puppy not our, did your partner have a say in getting one? Does your partner even want to look after it?
3) see 1
4) when you get a pet, things happen, the puppy could have easily hurt itself doing something else so see 1
4) consider a free/donation pet treatment centre

Our local vets do plans. And when you do get insurance get decent cover.

We had an £11k vet bill for a cat last year.

Wow. I love animals but even if insurance was paying that kind of money I would probably just put the poor animal to sleep. I've never been in that position so don't know for sure but that is my gut feeling.

Anyway sorry to hear about your puppy OP.

What? You'd put an animal to sleep even if you didn't have to pay the bill?
