Hi all,

Purchased Planet Coaster or whatever its called.

Seems a decent enough game but for some reason in 3 hours it crashed 3 times and asked for a crash report to be sent to the developer.

Tried doing a refund request to Steam which has been rejected due to me playing over their 2 hour limit.

Is there anyway I can push for a refund another way? I notice there has been recent updates which may cause it to be unstable... However at the minute I didn't pay for an unstable game!

Thanks

Well firstly there are loads of people paying this game without issue so it could be that it's something local to your machine. What have you done to try and resolve the issue, e.g remove overclocks, attempt different settings or install differing driver versions?

Secondly did you pay via Paypal or some other method? If Paypal you could always try getting a refund through them though I wouldn't be confident of a positive outcome.

Also if remember correctly people that were not running the game full screen but in bordered or borderless settings or at resolutions that were not the same as your Windows desktop were more prone to crashes so if you fall into this category maybe try running in full screen at the same res as windows.

Didnt bother with changing overclock as everything else runs fine and assumed as it asked for a crash report it was the game.

Paid on debit card with it being a low value purchase.

Playing in full screen mode.

Thanks for the replies.

Gave it another shot today, the 4th hour of gameplay and the game crashes to desktop again.

It seems to crash every hour...4th crash and 4th hour of gameplay.

I have requested another refund request quoting the above Consumer Rights Act, however I assume their refund policy is auto generated...any idea how I contact a real person?!

Looking at the recent update they seem to have fixed a lot of crashing bugs:

his will be update 1.4.2, and consists of the following fixes...

  • Resolved a crash that could occur when entering the Career menus.
  • Resolved a crash that could occur when playing videos on billboards.
  • Fixed an issue where selecting objects with the same colour palette could not be recoloured together.
  • Added colour options to the Park Bin so it is no longer white.
  • General stability fixes and improvements.

Additionally, the 1.4.1 update posted on 23rd of November contained this minor update...

- Resolved a crash that could occur for saved parks that contained video billboards

I wonder if something else is now causing the crash.

Have you backed off your overclock or are you still just assuming it's not that?

Everything always works fine until suddenly something doesn't, and then everything doesn't work fine.

Tried both overclocked and default and still crashes.

I did run a dxdiag report which came up with the following:

Fault bucket 2294112180654725670, type 5
Event Name: RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: PlanetCoaster.exe

Google suggests its a pre-memory leak, looking on the game support website there are a few people complaining of the game crashing. Have sent a ticket off thanks to the link @x-st posted.

Will see how they get on...Steam have rejected the refund claim even after I quoted the consumer rights act so is basically an auto bot reply.

Email steam.

I had 5 hours playtime on Mafia 3, as we know it was an absolute **** show. I emailed them (after 2 refund rejections) and stated i was having issues with the game (Frame rate, graphics problems). They actually did reply and in the end refunded the money into my steam wallet.

What email address did you use please?
