Purchased used computer

Hi,

Saved myself an enourmous amount of money and purchased a second hand computer today.

Gigabyte z97p d3

Crucial Memory
Radeon 7850
corsair 200r
hyperx 120gb SSD

Was originally going to buy new, but now that I've saved myself a large amount of money, I need to think about upgrade. My plans are to keep cpu and motheboard and possibly the case??? Not entirely sure yet, Corsair 400Q/C, Fractal design S and there're some other really strong contenders..

Definantly going to need
PSU, Evga g2 650, most probably
Videocard, ?GTX 970
Samsung SSD, two 250gbs.
Possibly new memory, and possibly a new case, also need to be looking at cpu cooling.

Any idea why, RAM is running at 800mhz ( max bandwidth )?

Usually you have to double what is shown, so you would be running at 1600mhz.

But pop into the BIOS to double check the settings.

Finally payday has arrived. I have been swaying between getting a gtx 960 just as a side step but my videocard isn't as bad as I originally thought, so now I am swaying more towards upgrading the power supply and then await the arrival of pascal.

I know superflower, evga and xfx are the ones people mostly recommend. Has anyone got an idea of what the power consomption will be for the new pascal cards? Are we looking.

Dare I go 450/550w? or should I go for 650/750w, probably looking at getting atleast gold certified. Thoughts?

Oh and I paid 350 for the tower.

Prob 650w to be safe, then you can be less choosy about what video card you get.

550w will ample for pretty much all single GPU setups.

^^Yeah, 550w should be sufficient for your needs OP, unless you think you might get a dual GPU card in the future. Get a fully modular power supply though if you can, to save yourself cable management hassle.
