Purchasing a domain name, recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a website to purchase a domain name? I had a look on google etc but there is way to much competition, and was just curious which one's people use?

thanks fore the replies, its a dot com am looking for so will check out godaddy, sounds v cheap!
