Apparently the 8800 GTX dont appear to have this feature on the cards  Nvidia claim that the 8500 and 8600 do feature PureVideo HD and that while watching HD content the CPU will be reduced down to 0%. Does anyone know if the future versions of Nvidia gfx cards will feature PureVideo HD. Also does anyone have any experience on the 8800GTX and its purevideo on there comparing it with the CPU usage. Thanks a lot!

Not really, the idea of the PVHD in the 8500 and 8600 is so that it offloads the work to the GPU entirely as they are value orientated cards they are likely to be paired up with a midrange or value cpu that might not be up to the job.
The gtx in 98% of cases is going to be paired with a fast high end cpu so doesn't need this feature as much.
Granted it would be nice but there is no need.

I don't recall Nvidia saying that 8800 would have PureVideoHD support so not quite the same as the 6800 fiasco where they said would have WMV9 support but then launched with broken WMV9 support.

I am looking to upgrade my MediaCentre PC and am waiting for the HDMI equipped 8500/8600 vards for this. One thing I have learnt is don't try and have 1 PC does all. I have a PC for games, the one in the sig and one for Media.

Okay, kewl I understand the concept of why purevideo HD has been featured in the mid-ranged nvidia cards. So another question...what CPU (preferabbly Intel) would go well with the 8800 GTX to get ultimate HD experience? ...Just read the above link posted, the 8800 GTX works exactly similarly like the 85/8600 cards with purevideo HD which is good.

Oh and also, are there any reviews on the 8800 GTX running 1080p/HD video content that show how they cope on cpu load etc (Intel based test system :) )... Kewl thanks for replies!!
