Last week, my brother purchased Samsung UE55KU6470.

In general he has been pleased with it, but phoned me complaining of jerkiness/juddering with sports and gaming. I went through a few TV settings with him on the phone, but he's not that tech savvy. After suggesting he called the store, they advised him to return the TV. So he boxed it up and went back to the store. At this point its worth noting he has a standard PS4 and SkyHD.

The "salesman" has informed my brother that because his TV is UHD, the jerkiness is caused by his 1.4 spec HDMI cable not being able to carry the data fast enough to the TV. An £80 HDMI 2.0 cable would solve the problem

After speaking to him this morning, I've told him its nonsense. He is now unsure how to proceed.

Surely, this is BS. The TV does the up scaling.
But after ranting to him that its basically a scam, I am now doubting myself, as I have not made the move to UHD/4K yet.
My dearest HDMI cable was £5 from the supermarket.

Back me up !!

Excellent.
Thanks for the replies.

What I was failing to comprehend, was that his existing SkyHD box was connected to his old TV using the same cable.
Surely, the only reason he would ever need a higher speed/spec cable, would be for native 4k/UHD content, which his Sky box/PS4 cannot produce?

I would have gone round and set the TV up for him, but its an 80 mile round trip.

Fair enough, but the OPs brother wasn't even feeding the TV a 4k signal.

And this is the Crux of it.
I should just get over it, but things like this really wind me up.

Just spoke to my brother...
They have now have offered to replace the TV, as they believe it has a fault, and just in case, have offered him a high speed cable for a tenner.

I will pay him a visit and check it over.

:)
