Push Email !! On or Off?

ok just set my 3mail account up and it asked to active push email, what are the advantages and disadvantages of using this feature?

can it be expensive?

Haven't personally bothered setting up Push Email on my Vario II. If I want to check my email, I just do it manually. I have no personal need or urgency for my email to be "pushed".

If you have a WnW package then I can't see how it would be expensive.

One major downfall would be battery life. If you sent the phone up to sync with the email server every half hour then I can see battery life going rapidly. As the phone would be constantly establishing and using the data connection.

Theres not really any advantages or disadvantages of it over pop3 email.

Push e-mail, I'm assiming using the MS exchange push e-mail option on the Vario II:

Advantages:
Instant e-mail (duh!)
Geeky/coolness factor
Can be a life saver if you you live/die by e-mail

Disadvantages:
Increased battery drain (quite an increase)
higher data charges
Can cause WM5 devices to freeze more often (blame activesync!)


Take your pick.

If you get a lot of e-mails, or need to carry a lot of e-mails with you (like I do) you can tweak the registry to store e-mails on the memory card. Which is pretty handy when you need access to 300mb worth of e-mails....

By setting outlook to auto check for emails every min it's effectivley the same thing.

Wouldn't bother.
If you want a push e-mail service stick to something Blackberry based - they still rule the market.
