I have allways struggled to get past 3ghz on my E2140, I want to find out what is stopping me going higher. fsb wall, volts etc.....

I hit a wall on anything above 380fsb but wasn't 100% sure if it was a fsb wall so i have tried move vcore, upto 1.55v to be exact and then wondered if it could be someting else thats the problem.

As per the overcloking guide i set the relevent voltages in bios.

Now i have been looking again in bios for the NB volts to see if that helps. I can't find anything relating to the NB voltage but found MCH Overvoltage control & FSB Overvoltage control. These were both set at 0.1 now i have upped them to 0.15 and managed to boot @ 390 x 8 = 3120mhz.

I still need to prove the rig is stable but would love a 100% overclock and the ram to run at 1:1 so two questions.

1) Is MCH the NB voltage?
2) Whats the max safe voltage i can use?

Thanks

The MCH is Northbridge

is your chip under air?

At the present voltage, you indicate the new over clock has not been proven stable.

Run orthos and core temp. If your temps are relatively low that will indicate you are in a position to up the vcore.

Primarily your temps under stress testing will indicate if you able to allow further voltage increase.

Ok my cpu is under a Noctua / air cooler and at full load doesn't go above 60deg. I ran for 30 mins and not a problem. I realise 30 mins is not enough but after that i tried booting at 400 x 8 = 3200mhz but no joy.

At that my ram is 1:1 so its not my ram, I tried th vcore upto 1.5 and no joy so now just need to know what i can put through the NB (mch) with out damaging the board and how do i check the NB temps?

Ok 3120 stable.

Now the Nb voltage whats the max voltage for it
