Pushing the Asus 4890...

Hey guys.

If anyone is interested, do you want me to benchmark the Asus 4890 on my current rig? I am pushing 1Ghz this afternoon nearly stable with 1.375, just ramped up voltage some more to 1.387.

Anyone interested if I post the before / after benchmarks?

Im more interesting in your cooling and noise levels lol, or are the 4890s better than the 4870s when it comes to that?

You might as well post your benchmarks, those interested wil ltake a look, and those who arent wont. Whats there to ask

Hiya rexe,

I am interested for sure, i only just tried 3dmark 06, got 16725 (no idea if it's good or bad) lol

Running mine flashed to 1000/1100 with bios specs as per black edition so the 0x18 resistor voltage is now 1.4375

If your benchers are free i could do the same tests to check if i'm on the right track (something to compare)

edit:: moppy, default bios on the xfx xt the fans real quiet maybe less than my previous sapphire 4870 512, with modded bios it's louder than 4870 and stock xfx 4890 as the fan-temp strats differ (black edition needs more cooling hence more noise but nowhere near bad)

Ok. First round of benchmarks are in.

All tests were conducted using 3D Mark Vantage - Default Settings

CPU / Memory Settings:

GPU Idle Temperatures

3D Mark Vantage - STOCK GPU (850 Mhz Core / 3900 Mhz Memory / 1.312V)

3D Mark Vantage - Overcloked GPU (1000Mhz Core / 4400 Mhz Memory / 1.4V)

As you can see there is a considerable difference between the two results!

GPU Temperatures (LOAD @ Stock)
Fan Speed: 100%
GPU Core - 59-61C
GPU Memory - 68-71C

GPU Temperatures (LOAD @ Overclocked)
Fan Speed: 100%
GPU Core - 70C
GPU Memory - 79-80C

Getting some serious BSODs. Not all champagne just yet. Getting "Driver device stuck in infinite loop" BSOD and EIO.SYS BSODS.

Any light you guys can shed would be great.

But i had a error earlier a appcrash, but it was openal related, so googled n dl'ed openal and 3dmark 06 worked fine

Might be OpenAL... I am on 64bit Win 7, I had suspecions about install OpenAL when I installed 3dmark 06. And the crashes I'm getting is when using 3d mark 06... freezes and pc restarts. Even pushed my GPU voltages past 1.425 to see if it stablised but to no avail.

**EDIT** I'm leaving the 06 benchies for now... Any other benchmarks you guys would like? Crysis? Crysis Warhead? Arma 2?

Got Crysis too but never benched it but your bench i could save n maybe bench mine at some point
