How much better is a push-pull config than a single fan?

I had never really considered mounting a second fan on my setup (thermalright ultra 90 with 56cfm 92mm fan) as I always just assumed given the proximity of the rear exhaust fan that it would be a bit overkill having 2 fans (the pull and exhaust) so close together - is this not an issue?

Can any one advise as to the temp drops they saw?

Thanks :D

Depends on the cooler, the case, the fans in question. I got a 2 degree drop on an open bench adding a second scythe s-flex, but no change in a case. I put this down to the proximaty of the rear exhaust to the cpu cooler.

so perhaps if the pull fan had some sort of sheath or something made (chimney-like) to direct the hot air upwards (perhaps to a top fan) then the whole system would work better (allowing the exhaust fan to remove case/rising gpu heat) ?

from what i've read it makes no difference, but the best method is to have the cooler facing the rear exhaust (not roof exhaust) ....preferably in line....and just blast the air through the cooler and suck it out the back....and two lower front intakes

the other way is to put flexible ducting around your cooler fan and the other end on your panel side/ front and suck directly from the outside...this looks ugly as hell ( dia 120mm) but reduces temps quite a lot, especially if exit duct on pc panel also has a fan........ i read too much...i cant do much else whilst saving money, i need to start modding soon
