Ok here's the thing. My boss got a 'dodgy' copy of vista to try out, because he was sceptical as to whether it would be worth the cash. He's been playing around with it for a few weeks and he loves it (he's the kind of person who takes style over content every day of the week so i'm hardly surprised).

So now he's prepared to shell out for copy of vista 32 ultimate, which is the same version he's got. The question is: can he simply input the new product key in without reinstalling?

Thanks.

as far as i know yes.

if he goes to activate it it will ask for the key. just make sure he gets the right key for the right version of vista. ie, business or home etc...

Translation..

"I've got a dodgy version of Vista that I downloaded and thought I'd be clever and bipass the activation/security checks. I've failed and now I need to pay for it.."

sigh...if i wasn't so lazy i'd happily upload a screenshot showing that my version of vista is activated fine ! :p

edit: if you're not lazy you can always check back through some of my previous posts and see that i've had vista on this machine since june/july. :D
