What Heath Robinson methods do you people use to block off the free ends in your water tubing? I'm talking about the fill and drain lines. I know you can get fancy fill ports and fancy valves, but these seem expensive for what they are, so hit me with your imaginative methods of plugging your tubes, specifally 3/8" if poss as this is what I use.

I'm sure I've seen batteries used in this ghetto fashion! I can't imagine it's very advisable or what size tubing it was for though.

Having just grabbed a ruler perhaps a AAA for 3/8 :p

If you put a AA battery in your ½" tubing it ironically stops the battery effect.

The above is true for a given definition of true i.e. false.

Once drained i just use packaging tape. Works fine and is easy to remove once your ready to start filling it again.

I.e.,

I think I've seen the battery idea before myself. I think that would be risky though due to the possibility of it leaking into the water if left for long enough. Would certainly be dodgy if used to block a drainline I would have thought, unless you insulated it somehow, a few layers of clingfilm?. Cheap git I know. Might have to check the local wine merchant for some corks.
