Hi, im in the middle of buidling my pc but the instructions have told me to get my paste (i dont have any?) and aplpy a layer on the cpu..

Is this neccasary to use the paste as i dont have any.......

You should use 'paste'.

If you have a new Intel CPU with a new Intel heatsink then it already has thermal 'paste' applied to the bottom of the heatsink in three grey sections. This is enough to allow you to install the CPU and heatsink.
