Bit strange I know but I have a board that takes 1066 or 1333MHz ram but it is currently hard for me to source stocks but I can get 1600MHz easily.

The big question is ..... will it work in the board (i.e. just run slower) or will it be very upset and cause lots of issues ?

Thanks

Interesting question, either it won't work at the top level, thus underperform, or it will blow up lol, never tried, can't see why you'd want to, buying the correct ram is easy online

The board is a Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3 and my local distributors that I am visiting for this build do not have the 1066 or 1333 ram in stock. I could get from another distributor but travelling there and back would negate any profit on buying at distrbutors prices. The ram I am looking to get is the G.Skill Ripjaws 1600MHz (the CL9 version). Originally the client was going to have a board that was rated for the faster ram.

Not buying from the local distributors and importing would void any warranty with is not acceptable to my client.

I suspect it will run at the slower speed but wondered if anyone could confirm.
