Putting passwords on folders?

Is there any software that exists that allows you to put passwords on folders? Or can you do it without software?

Don't know any way to password a folder but you could always RAR the files up and put a password on that way.

Microsoft Private Folders 1.0? I heard it's an add on from Microsoft that they didn't advertise too much because it could cause a lot of headaches for system administrators.

There are plenty of tools that can do this. I'm using FolderLock it's not free though.

These also hide your folders and some encrypt.
