ok, a friend of mine has just bought himself an 80gig ipod video jobby. he assumed that he would just be able to put video files on there to watch. apparently not. so has asked me how to do it without having to buy them from apple.

problem is, he isnt particularly computer literate, and i only really know how to play music on an ipod (as i have never owned one).

can anybody tell me how to put a video file from the computer onto the ipod, and play it. is there a program that needs to be used to convert the video format?

cheers for any help offered.

Get "Free Ipod Converter" it converts files including Divx, xvid and such to .mp4 so you can put them on your ipod.

I have "Bottom" Series 1, 2, 3 along with Live 1, 2, 3, 4

Also, when wanting to add the video onto the iPod.

I found it best to 'create a new playlist' down the left hand pane of iTunes. Name it appropriately (movies, or whatever) and then drag your video files into that playlist.

Then when you have all the videos you want in that playlist, simply drag that playlist (on the left pane, yet again) onto the iPod (you guessed it, left pane again) and it should begin to put them on.

That's assuming he won't be syncing his video.

It's not as easily done as the music for some reason - but the above was the easiest way I got around it. If someone knows an easier/quicker way, feel free to better it.
