A guide to pixel pitch at different screen sizes:

15" = 0.297mm
17" = 0.264mm
19" = 0.294mm
19"WS = 0.285mm
20" = 0.255mm
20"WS = 0.258mm
21" = 0.270mm
22"WS = 0.282mm
23"WS = 0.258mm
24"WS = 0.270mm
30"WS = 0.250mm

I found this on badass's site and from what I understand the 30" screens are supposed to have the higest quality picture? or it doesnt matter with such small quantities (mm)?

The idea is I have a 19" 930BF currently which according to this guide it has pixel potch of 0.294mm.

So a 22" WS with 0.282mm pitch or a 24" WS with 0.270 pitch will look better?

I am confused with this stuff and I cant decide on a new screen :(

Basically the 22" screens have the same resolution as the smaller 20" screens, they just have larger pixels (stretched?) to fit the extra 2". So it wouldn't look as crisp, but I doubt you could really tell unless you did a lot of intense photo work, etc. The 24" screens then use the bigger resolution with the smaller pitch. :)

smaller the dot pitch the sharper an image is... thats why 32" screens with 1336 X xxx will look blocky or blurred

I see, well on my current sammy 930BF (19") I have to admit you can notice some slight cubish lines when you really look for them in games. For example if you go at the edge of a wall you can tell is not a stright line. However, 19" got 0.294 so with a 22" WS with 0.282 is supposed to look better and definatly not worse I guess. I might buy the new sammy 226 then :)

PS: You think it will make a difference between the sammy 206 and the 226? the 206 will have .258 vs .282 on the 226. Or it wont justify loosing those 22"?

Thanks

Yes, I am already VERY happy with sammy with my 930BF the past year. However, you think it will make a difference between the sammy 206 and the 226? the 206 will have .258 vs .282 on the 226. Or it wont justify loosing those 22"?

To be honest 22" sounds better from a 19", but how pitch affects them? Do you own one and its good?

ps: Yes I am paranoid thinking of 0.03mm :p

You're an order of magnitude out (probably a typo), 0.03mm would be a very fine dot pitch. Really, moving between 0.3mm and 0.25mm you're talking about the difference between ~9 (3x3) and 16 (4x4) pixels per square mm. That's approaching twice as many pixels.

That's a bit harsh and unqualified. If you're using it like a monitor, sure, but 1366x768 is beautiful with a decent feed, especially so at a relaxed viewing distance. The 720p->1080p leap isn't nearly as pronounced. There're more factors in image quality than resolution alone can account for.

yes i did mean as a pc monitor... no good for anything other than gaming of dvd's and the like..

its just not sharp enough for long term reading of text or things like that that require the *quality* that only smaller dot pitches can provide..

i should have clarified with my origional post

The "tightness" of text is certainly better on a 20" model than on a 19" from my experience. It can be a bit sharper as a result, but text is also a bit smaller. You would prob find a move from 19" > 22" to be pretty much the same in terms if pixel pitch really i'd say, but a 20" would be a noticeable difference
