well,

got trashed after I saw it when I opened the box but after I got over it a bit I did some tests with various "pixel fixing" progs. It looks like the pixel can show green fine (when I put a green square over the area works perfectly), but it looks dead(black) on blue square and red.

Any ideas if its still alive somehow and might get ressurected? I read that is about the liquid inside being spread properly so light can reflect as it should.

ps: Unlucky as always :(

Massage it and uses one of the programs that flashes tonnes of colours, search for what other people done. Unlucky about the pixel as i would probably go mad and get a new one :p

ok apple says that they will restore/replace failed/faulty hardware. So the transistor responsible for the pixel has failed I guess. Or they do not consider pixels?

Anyhow, as the laptop is brand new sucks to get it with defective pixel :(

Furthuremore, if I return it for refund so i can order another in hope to be good, they will deduct 60 quid for returning fee! How is this full refund!?

They only usually ask for a recharge fee if you have opened it (which you have), or if it's past the first 14 days and you haven't opened it.

You could just wangle it (ring them is the best bet) and say you wanted to check it on delivery, and thus discovered it (the pixel) that way.. then say you want to send it back for a replacement.. see what they say.

IMO £60 for a replacement is steep, but it sure beats getting it repaired.

You haven't got a cat in hells chance of getting Apple to admit that one dead pixel is faulty.

I've tried on three different occasions with three different computers, kicked up a major fuss and got absolutely nowhere.

If you do manage to pull it off then I for one would be more than happy to hear how you did it.

Take it in to an Apple Store if you can, they will immediatley acknowledge it as a fault (an in-store demonstration would be sufficient) and more-than-likely replace it on the spot provided there aren't any 'extra circumstances'.

They said the replacement will ship and arrive in 10 days? I guess they send a new directly from factory.

ps: custom config through online store
