PWM Fan Splitter cable advice.

Hi All
At the moment I have one Akasa Viper PWM fan attached to a Magahalems for cooling. I want to attach a second Viper for a push, pull config so I'm going to need a PWM splitter cable (Link below) . What I would like to know is. Do I have to connect the splitter cable up to the PSU via the Molex along with connecting up to two fans together??

Yes.

Thats how the fans get power.

I thought they might get enough power through the CPU_FAN header but I wasn't sure.

The connection on the splitter for the CPU_FAN header only carries the speed data, it doesnt have the leads to carry power from the header.

Basically the splitter takes the speed changing info from that header, and takes power from the PSU via molex, and splits it across 2 other fans.

It does carry power just not enough for multiple fans. Using the cable as the op says thought supplies enough ower for 3 fans via molex and takes the speed control off the header.

If it didnt carry power then just having one cpu fan plugged in it wouldn't spin/power, which everyone knows it does. Otherwise how else would it get power ie stock heatsink one fan cable NO molex etc
