Hey guys

I wanted to ask, when i purchased another case fan (sp120 for the hdd bay&dust filter) would it be better to get the PWM version of the fan, or would the normal one be fine?

If you want to plug it into your mobo and control the speed with that, then get PWM. If you want to control it with a fan controller or voltage reducers then get non PWM.

Ah ok, thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure what would be best suited to a case fan, i might go for the PWM to make sure i can change the rpm/noise levels if i grabbed the performance one. Thanks for the reply!

Everything I build has PWM controlled case fans. Why run case fans at a speed needed for maximum system load / heat when 90% of the time system is running less than 20% load? Controlling them with component PWM (CPU and sometimes GPU PWM signal) the case fans only run fast enough to supply the airflow needed. They idle when component fans idle and speed up when component fans speed up.
