Am in the process of OC my Q6600 am at 3.4GHz with 1.4250 volts at the moment, but looking at uGuru readings its saying:

CPU 56c
SYS 26c
PWM 90c!!!!!

What is PWM and my is the temp so high, after 12 minutes of Prime95, is uGuru reading the temps correctly??

Pulse Width Modulation, it's basically the mossfets/capacitors etc. This is a sign that the heatsink/heatpipe on the motherboard isn't making good contact. This has been reported with the odd board. In line with your other temps it should be about 55--65c max. Does the heatsink feel hot to touch (care needed ;)).

Check out this thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=2589280 for examples and work arounds for this problem, if you have any doubts about doing these mods yourself just RMA the board. Shame you have this issue, I have the board and it is great.

Mosfets can take the heat. 90c is high but not worryingly so. Stick a fan over the area and the temps will plummet.

My quad is at 3.4Ghz with the same mobo and my PWM doesn't go above 65c, with core temps averaging around 58--60c, so 90c is still high. I would guess he has a contact issue with the heatpipe/heatsink, yes a fan would sort it, but out of the box with that o'clock it don't look right ;) Also lettuce you may want to check your cpu with Core Temp.

I am running Prime95 though as im overclocking atm, guess that would add to the heat?

Your PWM temp is 25c higher than mine under load. I have the same overclock as you (3.4Ghz). I would be slightly concerned, knowing there has been problems with heatsink/heatpipe contact. You can run with it and as w3bbo has said stick a fan on/over the heatsink and you'll be sorted. (Still a little high for me though ;)).

Strange, i open my case up to change the fan i had on my heatsink, and i pushed the spring load bolts down and few times on all the heatsinks on the heatpipe, and now under load im getting a read of 75c. I have been lowering the volts on the cpu though which is right next to it, so its either that or the higher rpm fan ive suck on the heatsink now or both
