PWM Y-Splitter only runs one fan?

Hi,

Im trying to run 2 fans on my radiator but I can only get one fan working.
Using a Y-splitter cable, the fan that is connected to the full 4 pin plug works fine. The one with 3 pins wont work at all.

Any idea why this is or just a faulty y splitter?

Are you trying to connect 1x 3 pin fan, and 1x 4 pin fan to the splitter?

No, both are 4 pin PWM fans. (Akasa Piranha)

Are you saying on the splitter cable it has a connection for a 3 pin and a 4 pin, but allows 2x 4 pins to be plugged in?

No.
They are both 4 pin plugs but one has a pin missing, the 'sense' pin.

it will more than likely be a faulty cable the missing pin on your spliiter is the one that reports the fan speed back to the mobo or fan controller. you've tried swapping the fans over to make sure the same thing happens

Yep, swapping just reverses which fan works.

Aye thought as much, always good to double check.

That'll teach me to buy the cheapest one i found on the bay.
