Px21 Buzzing + Spec new headset

Hi, I have a set of Turtle Beach PX21, I get a buzzing sound all the time when the jack is connected to my sound card. If I only use the usb to connect them to my PC then there is no buzzing sound but then the controller does not work correctly.

The PX21 only come with on Jack connector so not even sure I should be connecting this to my sound card as I thought I needed 3 to use analog? However when I connect this jack to the onboard headphone socket on my mobo I get the same issue?

Can anyone help please?

No I meant another jack in same port to rule out a faulty jack/wiring.

Did you look to see what/why your Sig is doing that?

Yeah I posted on the thread and moved my sig hosting to imgur for now to solve it till I get to the bottom of it!

SO I would need to buy a new jack and rewire it on?

No asking if you can you try another device and see if it still buzzes?

Try anything in there, speakers/mic but ideally another set of cans then you will know if its socket to blame.

try powering the usb externally

the headphone jack is picking up emi leakage from the usb ports and that's what your hearing

use a htc/usb phone charger plug to power the headphones with

idk why that is

unless its not supplying enough power, but usb are standardised

I don't know whatelse to suggest, theres inline suppressors you can buy aswell to isolate the noise

Thanks for your help mate, I have come to the decision to treat myself to some new ones.

Now just got to find some decent 5.1 wired headphones that are good for FPS gaming for around £70........any suggestions?

I have no idea with 5.1 headphones:(

I thought it might be down to not plugging them into the pc/windows? externally powered windows wont detect them ect catch22 really

So I have £70 to spend on my new headset, I mainly play FPS games so positional sound is what Im really after so im guessing a 5.1 headset would be best for this?

I also dont mind If I need to get clip on mic if it means I will get a better set of headphones.

Anyway what do you guys thinks is the best I can get for my coin?

Thanks

With the PX21 the 3.5mm jack is for game sound and the USB connector powers the headset and is an additional sound processor for microphone and chat (for example you have teamspeak linked to the USB sound processor to control the volume independently from the game volume).

A quick fix that might solve all your issues would be to get a Turtle Beach DSS / DSS2 which uses your soundcard's optical (if you have optical) instead of the 3.5mm jacks and adds 5.1 processing to the headset.

Looking at prices for the above it is around £50, so considering my headset is over 3 years old and the mic is held on with tape I think I will be better with a new headset if I can get a good one for around £70?

I have seen a used pair of Sennheiser HD558 within my price range. A few people have posted saying they are good headphones, but are they good for gaming (im after good positional sound as I FPS game mostly)? And will they fit with my Xonar DG soundcard?

Also are these 5.1?
