I've been meaning to try this shot for a while and finally found a pylon that was reasonable accessible so here goes.

A different perspective on things.

The second one was taken with my new toy - a Peleng 8mm fisheye. It's a strange beast, fully manual for a start and the angle of view makes avoiding photographing your own feet tricky!

And finally seeing how the HDR shots from the weekend weren't up to much it'll have to be IR instead.

One thing I noticed taking the IR shot - I'm trying out having the camera setup to focus on the * button rather than the shutter. Doing it this way makes IR a lot easier, you don't have to worry about setting the lens to MF after attaching the filter. Having the 50mm 1.8 in AF makes attaching the filter far easier, in MF the lens goes slack so you tend to knock it out of focus just putting the filter on.

I've been uhming and aaahing over getting a Peleng for a while now. Still not sure how much practical use i'd get out of it :o

If it's to go on the D70 mentioned on your deviantart page I'd have a good check about on the web - there are a lot of reports of the Peleng fouling some Nikon mirrors when set to infinity focus.

Nice shot - is that straight from the camera or did you mirror it ?

The first one? Straight from the camera bar a slight rotation to square up the wires, then the crop and frame.
