Q&A With TP-Link!

Hi TP-Link,

Can you tell me please if this modem/router supports Sky Fibre in the UK (needs MER) and does it support the G.INP?

TP-LINK Archer VR900 AC

Thanks :)

Hi Space Monkey,

Yes, VR900 already supports G.INP in the current firmware and For MER we will be soon releasing the official firmware on our website.

Not sure if the rep is still around but I'll ask anyways.

I have AV500 nano and wifi kits (TL-PA411Kit / TL-WPA4220T). From the beginning I have gone into the utility software and ticked the box to set them all to the network name homeplugav but Im having an odd issue with them in that they will out of nowhere all drop connection, I have to go to each one to find out that the box to set them all to HomeplugAV has been unticked as the traditional pairing instructions do not work.

The original part of my house is old and there is a newer extension. The base plug is plugged into the newer part of the house along with 1 of the wifi plugs, and the other 3 are plugged into the older side, i dont know if this makes a difference.

I dont know if RMA'ing them would make a difference.

I bought them elsewhere, but the warranty would be with TP-Link directly I assume.

Hi Scinto,

The Home-plug AV power-line adapters work best when they are plugged into the same electrical ring mains.

If you plug some of the power-line adapters into an extended circuit or an extended spur, there are chances that the signals transmitted are often lost.

Hence, the Power-line adapters tend to lose the pairing with each other and will not register on the TP-Link utility as part of the same network.

Thanks for that :), So if I buy this all I do is plug it in my sky cable and update the firmware to 15090? is it that simple

This is a modem router so it just needs the phone cable from your master socket and you also need to extract your Sky login details from your current Sky hub using wireshark :)

does TP-link have any plans to bring out a POE AC wifi access point similar to ubiquiti's unifi? [with a similar simple design]

still waiting to replace my aging TL-WA901ND

p.s love your switches and how low power everything is!

well that was painless got my sky fibre working with the tp-link archer vr900 although could not upgrade the firmware when using Firefox had to use google chrome well happy :)

Im getting a little worried, I've just ordered 2 sets of TL-PA8030P AV1200 powerline adapters, and I'm now reading this thread where the TPLink rep is recommending them than other users are talking about intermittent dropouts with TPLink powerline kit... Ive been using Netgear AV200 powerlines for many years with no drop out issues.

So my question is, are the TL-PA8030P affected by dropout issues? as they are quite new is there any updated firmware to correct/improve any issues?
