Hi there,

I have a problem with a NAS box, I purchased this just over 2 months ago and a few days after buying it I released it had a problem detecting Samsung drives, but it seemed to work pretty good for 8 weeks then it started having problems detecting the drive.

This is an inherent fault as admitted by the manufacturer and many other forums over the net.

I contacted the retailer and asked to replace it with a different NAS box or a refund, The retailer wont replace it with another NAS drive and will only offer me a partial refund.

What are my options here?

Does the same apply if it's an inherent fault and your requesting a refund only after a matter of a few weeks?

Don't faff about arguing with the retailer yet. You do have the right to a full refund as the contract has been breeched (under the SOGA). As vonhelmet suggests, postage refund is a grey area but if you reject the goods within "a reasonable timeframe" you should be able to claim all postage costs.

Speak to these people tomorrow who will inform you of your rights:

Sale of goods act gives the retailer the discretion of a refund or replacement, it being of course cheaper for them to offer a replacement they always do that.
