I have pulled my GPU out a few days ago as it was getting very hot. Fan had decided to stop working. If i get another fan can i plug into a fan controller or does the fan have to plug into the gpu?

Also this fan is tiny, where would i get one from??

thanks

Yes you can plug it into a fan controller. A lack of fan on the GPU fan socket does not prevent your PC from starting up or anything like that. Plenty of people watercool or use other forms of aircooling on their gfx card without using the GPU fan socket just fine.

Not sure about buying just the fan for heatsinks that come with GFX cards. You will more than likely have to spend upto around £25 for a good heatsink with fan (or one without where you can strap on a normal 80mm upwards case fan to it) from...

What card have you got exactly?

Your only other option then is to some how strap on a 80mm, or larger, standard case fan so that it will still be blowing air into where the current dead fan is.

Or just buy a newer, and faster, graphics card :)
