I have a HP G6062ea which has a NVIDIA 7000M / nForce 610M graphics card installed.

The store says the dedicated graphics memory is up to 336mb's but the card itself tells me it only has 64mb's.

The full details according to the display settings are :

Total available graphics memory 799mb
Dedicated video memory 64mb
Shared system memory 735mb

My games run terribly and 3dmark06 won't even run at all -is there a way to transfer memory from the shared system memory to the dedicated video memory or any other way to get my graphics card to work a bit harder please?

The rest of my stats aren't too bad so I don't understand why the games run really poorly.

AMD Athlon64 X2 1.9ghz
2 gigs DDR2 ram
120 Gig HD

Any advice please or do you think my laptop is faulty?

There should be an option in bios allowing you to chose how much shared memory you can give to your gfx.

Although your gfx card isn't good enough to be playing any modern games i'm afraid.

As a minimum you would need a 9600m GT to get any half decent games running.

Sorry.

Increasing shared amount won't magically make your system much faster, it might give a bit more fluid framerate, but because it's shared that's less memory for the OS & game itself. You probably can't replace the videocard either.

So you need to buy a new laptop.

LOL I only brought it last month, brand new for £360 -it should have had a warning with it stating "please note this laptop doesn't play games" :D

Most cheap laptops aren't capable of playing games very well.

Thats why everyone went crazy for the Vostro 1500 because it was dirt cheap with a 8600m GT.

Keep an eye out for the OCUK laptops. They may be offering budget price + decent graphics soon.
