I know there are many threads comparing 8800 GT with 3870s but i would like to know what is the best thing to get to go with the P5E mobo. Its either Cross fired 3870s or a GT and possibly an Ageia physx card if they will work together.

Thanks for your time

Don't bother with the physix card, waste of time.

Well crossfired 3870s will eat a gt for breakfast dinner and lunch so no comparision really !

But then you'd be spending like about £280 at the min.

The GT can be got from round £150 so there is a big difference.

What res you gaming at ?
If its below 1680 x 1050 get a GT and spend the rest of the money on games.

have a 20 inch monitor so I would like to play at 1650 x 1050 but ive never done it before (got a 8400GS), i play crysis, COH, CS and DOW mostly but might like to try COD4 to!

a 8800GT/S is fine for your rez only Crysis will be hard to run but you could take the rez down to 1440 x 900 and it will still look great :)

TheRedZealot, why was getting a GT a mistake?

I Have about £180 to spend but i may have enough for a second 3870 in about a month or two. i just wanted to know ether it would be worth hanging on for the second 3870 or get a more powerful card now that i cant improve on later.

I have a GT with my P5E and i am chuffed with it. Handles anything i can throw at it. Overclocked it comes close to a GTX. I did consider going crossfire but that means more heat to get rid of and more power used as well as hearing that crossfire drivers are pretty slow in gaining support for latest games so i decided on the GT.

you play crysis on a 8400gs? - i bet thats fun

thats only £7 cheaper, i prefer the dual slot cooler too, i have an antec 900 so space is not an issue, i would like to over clock it a bit more so it needs some good cooling.
