Hi just want to ask would the audigy breakout box (the box that fits into the front of you PC case) work with the new Creative range of Sound Blaster X-Fi Music cards. As i believe the only difference between the X-Fi's is the Box and remote?

Please let me know,

Thank you

and what is the difference between

(1) Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music
(2) Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum
(3) Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS Edition

all of them are on special offer this week on OcUK and was thinking about buying one for my main machine as at present I use on board sound. Plus i know it inproves your sound no end. But dont really know which one to go for. I play a few on line game like BF2 a great deal at the moment.

Cant seem to understand though, the difference in these 3 models / variants.

What i can tell is the card is the same on all three. But

No 1 is just the card
No 2 and 3 card, remote and breakout box so what is the difference between 2 & 3

The Fatal1ty version has 64Mb of X-RAM, which I believe BF2 (and Quake 4) can utilise. I think it also has a "glowing logo" on the card itself.

cheers

Go for extreme music version, the fatality version is such a rip off. There's no benefit in current games and unless its specifically support in future ones there wont be any there either. Unless you need the breakout box the extreme music is the one to go for.

I completely agree with you, I was 1 week deciding on whether to get the extreme music or fatal1ty and after hours and hours going through message boards throughout the internet I found that most people agreed that the fatal1ty isn’t worth it at this moment in time and tests carried out by independent people also say that there is a very little if not nothing of an improvement with the X-Ram.

i am also thinking of getting one of these, anyone got an opinion on how much it will sound better than an audigy 2

I just installed mine today (the extreme music) and I was gobsmacked on how good this card is.

Coming from a audigy 2 ZS i didnt think it would be but I was amazed.
Bedazzled,speechless,faint,shakey,dumbstruck!

This thing is grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! :D

Where do you notice the difference? Speakers? Headphones? Music? Games?

I have an Audigy 2 ZS and have recently bought a decent pair of headphones (Audio Technica A900) and would upgrade if there was a clear difference.

Just upgrade the xfi is not in a different league...its in a different universe.

The features and sound quality was immense.

games sound better(more defined detail, subtle and more refined sound scape)
Music well thats just all together more detailed and refined.Mp3 's etc..

What sound system do you have easyrider?

I've been umming and arring about getting a X-Fi since they were first released but im not sure whether the sound would be THAT much better with my sound system. I have a Soundblaster Live! soundcard now, and have a Technics SH-EH780 connected to it. But do the X-FI only sound that much better when they are connected to a proper PC sound systems like the Creative and Logitech ones?

thanks thats helped me , off to get one now

I got one myself but have yet to install it into my machine, but all the good reviews floating around I just have to try it for myself, even though I have an Audigy 2ZS, but everyone says this X-Fi blows all other models out of the water :D

Well it won't be better than a X-Fi Elite Pro, but it's still the card that most people should/will get :)
