Just a heads up for anyone looking for some floorstanders in the £500 ish area, then seriously consider these. My mate bought a pair after recommendation by Sevenoaks. He has them hooked up to his Cyrus gear, and once bedded in they sound fantastic. When he bought them there weren't any reviews, however a What Hifi one has just gone up.

The 3050s’ faithful reproduction would no doubt give decent speakers closer to the £1000 mark a run for their money – and that’s some feat.
Hats off to Q Acoustics: these speakers are yet another staggering achievement. For the money, they’re sublime.

I'm comparing them to my BX5's, sure I don't have a Cyrus amp as I'm running a Pioneer SC 2024 but I can tell a fair bit of difference.

I'm not too surprised by this.

I was helping my Father-in-Law audition some speakers with a micro Hi-Fi to replace an ancient Aiwa compact shelf system. The budget was screwed to the floor because he's not really a Hi-Fi person, but at the same time I couldn't stand by and watch him throw away £150-£200 on a piece of junk from Curry's. We listened to a Denon DM39DAB coupled to a pair of Q Acoustic 2010's. For £70 speakers to live on a busy book case they did a marvellous job.The Diamond 9.1's were marginally better but needed more open space.

Kudos to Q

I'd love to hear some high end speakers. I have some Tannoy V4 floor standers, which in the world of audio are pretty low end, but they sound fantastic to me. So I would love to hear what difference there is in some more expensive gear :)

Yep, I went with the newer 3010s and a Topping USB amp/DAC to replace my Logitech PC speakers, they do a fantastic job. The only slight unfortunate thing is that you ideally need to be a little further away to get the most from them, but they still sound great in a desktop environment.

It rapidly gets to 'law of diminishing returns'. Quite often you get to a point where the room makes it difficult to hear significant improvement, without the room itself being sorted first. Don't get me wrong - there are improvements to be had, but they're probably not quite as significant as you might imagine. :)

Hmm how do I start...

So originally I had a corsair sp2500 desktop speaker setup which was decent enough as far as pc based speakers go but I knew they were no match for a dedicated amp and speaker setup.

So while looking for a set of speakers for my simple home cinema/hi fi setup I decided to get a temporary set in the meantime.

I had never heard of Q acoustics and was really looking at the usual suspects like Kef, B&W etc. So while I was perusing Gumtree I stumbled across a set of Q Acoustics concept 20.

The owner was migrating to the US for work and was leaving soon so his price was much less than the retail price. So I thought for the price I may take a chance on it.

When I partnered with my AV amp they sounded decent but I did't really take much notice as I knew this was a temporary setup.

So when I picked up a dedicated stereo amp for my pc I decided to try the Q acoustics with it. It was only a budget amp and was the Marantz 6005. Now let me just say I am no audiophile nor involved in sound reproduction so you must take my comments with a bucket of salt.

It is no surprise that when I say it bested the corsair sp2500 in almost ever department is an understatement or at least how I perceived it. The synergy between the concept 20's and the marantz was exceptional. I even place a set of B&W pm1's for laughs with the marantz but the pairing didn't sound as good as the concepts and marantz combo.

In almost every what hifi review of q acoustics speakers there is always a comment saying it can rival speakers twice it price. I would certainly take that comment with a pinch of salt but Q acoustic products certainly offer serious competition to long established speaker manufacturers at it price point.

Ressurecting this old thread as I have just purchased a Q Accoustics 3050 5.1 speaker set which include the speaker mentioned in this thread. They are due to be delivered tomorrow - will report back my findings. They will be used for both 2 channel audio, and surround for the tv. They will be driven by an old Onkyo HT-R390 surround receiver - should be a good lift from the speakers that came with the Onkyo.

You won't be able to use the sub directly with your Onkyo receiver. See your other thread.

Same here. Recent got the Denon DM40DAB with the Q ccoustics speakers and I am pretty blown away by the sound from such small speakers and cost. Basically the speakers were free with the Denon so if I had gone with any other speakers I was going to have to put money to them

Well impressed

Well my set arrived the other day, and have now set them all up - very impressed to say the least. These are going to be keepers for sure.:D

OhWhen auditioning £1k floorstanders the q acoustics had the most insane open soundstage of any speaker I listened to and were very musical.

Definately rate them but went DALI in the end

which Dalis did you go for please?

I'm in market for some new speakers, but debating in my mind how much to spend - I was looking at ex-dem Mon audio Golds - but decided a bit too pricey in the end, so not looking to spend more than 1k really for front three

amp is Denon X7200

These look good. My dali Zensor 5s have been in my friends garage for 4 months since I moved house and Im not ready to set them up yet :(

I had the please of listening to a full Naim setup once with a set of electrostatic speakers and my jaw was on the floor, to this day i've never heard anything so good

Dali Ikon 6 Mk II but they're now replaced by opticon line

Listened to B&W, Rega, Q acoustics, Focal (nice but £££'s), Tannoy
