Guys

There some great deals out there on some of the QAcoustics books shelf speakers .

I’m thinking making up a 5.1 surround sound system based on limited space in a converted garage .

Maybe the following and would appreciate honest opionions for these speakers either used as hi fi or cinema use .

2x 2020i for front and hi fi use
2x 2010i for rear ( I’m happy to get another set of 2020i for rears if it’s better )
1x 3090c Centre speaker
3070s subwoofer

Thanks

I had that exact setup a while back but with a BK subwoofer. It sounded fantastic and would highly recommend Q speakers....

I have a pair of 2020i's currently in use on my pc setup. Previously had them downstairs before I bought some monitor audio floorstanders.

They are excellent speakers for the money. Only paid £99 for mine. Can't rate them highly enough.

Wharfedale SW150 is the best subwoofer for under £200. I think Audiovisualonline still have some left for £160. Superfi did have it but they are showing it as discontinued now.

BK Gemini II would be better again, but that's about £220.

I think i'd only look at getting the QA subwoofer if you can get it for considerably less than what the SW150 costs If there is only a bit in it, the Wharfedale is a better sub.

2020i's front and rear here too, love them. Did a demo of some floor standers 3050's and bronze 6's, kept with the 2020's.

Mine are also connected to a denon.

That is exactly the set up I have apart from the sub. I have 2020i for front and rear and I've just upgraded my centre speaker to the 3090ci. My sub is a BK XLS200 and they're all paired up with a Denon amp. I know it's a very subjective thing but I think they sound great, the main use is for films with a little bit of music and I can't fault them at all. I used to use the QA sub, and although it was adequate, the BK sub is so much better.
