Q) COD vs BF/ EA vs Activision

thing is does graphics matter that much ?

see for me this is why i still play cod4 with a lot of others (5 times as many on pc play cod4 daily then bf3 ! )

its not just about graphics the gameplay basic mechanics animations map design comp scene its all there in cod 4 and the reason its still one o the top games even though its 5 year old.

bf3 will be dead come october.

cod never moved on this is true but too much is placed on modern graphics (bf3) no gameplay , no depth. why is there no depth because they need to sell you Dlc and you to be bored to buy the next release annually.

why not ?

quarter of players are playing bf3 now from release

new dlc will further split players down (half of servers will be switched off as 16 man maps ) also warfighter will be out october and everyone or big majority will want the next new thing .

so all that is left is a small player base

funny thing about it is mw3 which is a bad game ill admit that has kept its player base constant since release :p

think if dice / ea would have not cashed in rushed the game could have been a lot better .

Primary reason why there are no MOD tools for BF3...$$$$$$

How is the gameplay expanded from Bad Company 2 to Battlefield 3?

I was talking mainly about the differences between BF2 and BF3, I see the other titles as different games basically helping them improve the tech for the big release of BF3 :)

Tech wise there was a big jump from BC2 to BF3 though with Frostbite 2, this video is a bit old but shows some of the changes:

I totally agree with DG on this really, I cant see BF3 being "active" come the 12 month period. In fact the next few days will be relatively telling as its the 6 month period and servers will be going off line ( I know ours are ).

Don't get me wrong though I'm not having a rabid rant and hoping it dies just because I've quit but I cant see how it can survive when each DLC will divide an already fragmented and diminishing community.

Its slightly skewed here at OCUK tbh as Matts server is really popular and there's still a decent group playing but away from here its not that good a picture, a huge volume of people just dont play, as an example I have a friends list of about 65 people and there's only 2 or 3 people on it who play. In addition there's a large percentage of people who only play Metro.

I have always been tempted to give BF3 a go but have been put off with the origin horror stories. Surely Origin can't be that bad otherwise half as many people would be playing BF3 now??

You haven't bought a game just because of Origin? Just buy it, Origin is fine! Unfortunately like most things, you only ever hear the bad stories. People aren't going to start posting threads like "Origin is awesome LOL", but they will if something goes wrong.

Well there's not that many people actually left playing it tbh.

Errrrr, what? There's plenty of people playing BF3.

There are still people playing it but its player base decline has been a sharp and steady graph since release. It "averages" 50K a day at the moment and loses about 5000+ a month.

I know, but its numbers have dropped quite a lot and a 50K a day average isn't something that Dice/EA should be proud of with a BF title.

I think they would have had they been released in a different order. I do think that a lot of people wont bother with the CQ DLC which is why it will fragment the community.

I'd say there is more depth in BF3 then CoD...

Players left because the game got boring, stale and repetitive very quick, mainly down to lack of teamplay features, depth and clustered map design that makes it more of a scripted battlefield and less of a sandbox one. The vast majority that packed in I would guess are players of past games like BF2 and 2142.

16 player DLC set in an apartment aint gonna bring players back that want the battlefield experience. Might pull a few COD players in, I mean that's the aim of this DLC is it not? to cozy up to COD even more.
