Q-Flash BIOS on Gigabyte boards

I've previously updated my BIOS using a floppy but now my floppy drive absolutely refuses to work.

The Q-Flash utility is supposed to also work with flash drives but after putting the BIOS file on a USB flash drive it is not recognised in BIOS.

Then I formatting the flash drive to FAT (I can't remember which one, 12 or 16 - whatever option Vista gives you), still does not show up in BIOS - BIOS only seems to have an option for floppy drives. :confused:

Any ideas?

I had to turn on USB legacy support for my USB stick to be recognised when trying to use Q-Flash, IIRC.

Oh ok, thanks. I'll try that. Nice of Gigabyte not to mention that anywhere in their instructions. Good thing we're all telepathic or have forums!

some usb keys are 'worse' than others and may not load up properly too mind..

Can someone say, is this legacy option something you set within the BIOS or do you need to buy a USB stick that is legacy enabled?

Some flash drive outright refuse to work with the Gigabyte boards. My 8GB Flash Voyager by Corsiar refused to work, traded my 8 for a friends 4 and it worked. It shows up as a HDD to make sure you check out all the listed drives in the Q-Flash menu.
