my boss has offered me a chance to get a microsoft MCDST Certification

has anybody got one - is it worth it - how much does it cost and how do you go about study for it [where]

If they are paying for it, go for it, qualifications are always worth it.

not sure what you do, it looks like a good pre-req for any type of helpdesk job.

Might get you a pay increase since it will (in theory) make you more skilled.

Some googled info:

http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcdst/requirements.mspx

http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcdst/faq.mspx - the FAQ has some good answers as to whether it's worth it (when compared to the other Quals they offer, although it's their course, take with a pinch of salt and look elsewhere for some reviews too)

As for pricing I think MS do it themselves in the US (FAQ says each exam is $125, which aint much) but googling for UK ones came up with a load of learnign type businesses.

There is training videos etc. available on amazon.

Your best bet is to phone around an get first hand info :)

I teach the MCDST certifaction, its decent grounding in desktop support and a lot of the concepts you will learn are applicable the majority of Microsoft OS's.

Exams are £88 and can be booked via 2test.com if you take a self study route, or if you look about your local area you maybe able to find a local college that is offering it with discounted exam vouchers and expert tutition :).

If theres owt in particular you wanna know ask away.
