I need a new fan for this PSU as one of them has started clattering.

I've already removed the fan so now the PSU is going on only one fan, possibly explaining the rise in my sys temps (along with the good weather).

Does anyone know if I can replace it with a standard 120mm case fan or are they specialised?

Ok thanks, I'll consider a new PSU.

In the mean time - what kind of fan do I need to use? Are they standard?

P.S. if / when I get a new PSU, what would you recommend for my modest system? Total running is two WD HDDs, will be 1Gb of RAM, same CPU Mobo and GPU, and two dvd drives.

Ok I'm looking at the PSUs on this page...

CLICK

...and I have three questions:

- Would the Antec true blue be enough to run a system of the future, say if I upgraded in 6 months, i.e. with the new batch of graphics cards, dual core CPUs, etc etc? Am I future-proofing with this PSU or am I likely to need another when I upgrade?

- Is an ATX2.0 PSU backwards compatible with my standard ATX setup and what's the difference?

- Is it not better to have two larger fans on a PSU to aid with case airflow?

Akasa 460W ^^Thats what i got, great power supply. I have a similar pc to the OP's too, but with more powerful GFX card.

Is it SLi / Crossfire / SATA / dual core CPU compatible, i.e. reasonably future-proof?

Ok peoples lol I get the message about Q-Tec. Question is:

Will the Akasa 460W Paxpower be sufficient for a system of the future or will I be looking at upgrading again?

Sorry to resurrect this one peeps but I wanted to let you know how I got on.

I bought an Akasa Amber 8mm case fan and an Akasa Paxpower 460W PSU. Both are extremely well made and getting the paxpower out of the box made me realise what a heap o' cr@p the Q-Tec is.

The made thing however is that I cannot hear the computer above me typing this message - it's oh so very quiet and I am pleasantly suprised as to the difference it has made!!

The only noisy thing now is my HDDs and the video card fan...so...does anyone know a super-quiet fan for a Connect 3D ATi Radeon 9600 Pro still on the market?!

Oh and did I mention it is now possible to sleep with the computer on in the next room whereas before this was out of the question?!
