Gotta love them, friend of mine kept phoning me saying he's pc was running hot, I couldnt see how since he purchased same case as me, same cooling set up & very simular internals yet mines a decent temp. So after numerous phone calls i venture along to his pad and to my horror find he didnt buy same psu but instead went cheap as chips budget buy 500w Q-tec! Was so hot to touch it allmost burnt my hand, case was very warm inside even with the side slightly open! Told him shut down pc and replace asap as it's not healthy at all and told him 'he needed a slap for buying Q-tec'.

Never owned one myself but after reading some horror stories about them here (+ friends one suffering meltdown temp) i'd never buy one, ever. Some PSU's run fairly warm under strain but he's pc is no way loading the Q-tec and the dam things like an oven, scarey stuff.

Well he's in a hurry to buy a new one anyhow, i installed a spare Jeantech one for him to run his pc and temps are down to normal levels. He's looking at buying his own Jeantech or Sparkle. Havent opened up the Q-tec but maywell just have a peek inside (dont do this at home you have been warned kids) to see if anything looks like it's been cooking itself. ;)

£45 i think, he's heading for Spar, at mo coz he cant be arsed to pay delivery on just one sub £50 item from OCuk. Told him the only decent one's ive seen in there are Jeantech tbh rest are unknowns.

Well thats what i told him, 400w Jeantech is £50 from there  iirc where they £35 to £40 else where. FSP Sparkle Blue Storm 400W PSU is what i told him to buy, could give him a ring on mobile i guess and bitch some more at him. :D

No need for that, I was just giving you a heads up - if you would rather be suspended then so be it.

Sorry just bit of a demanding post by your good self, but far as im aware non-text for text likeness is not listing a competitor and there-for no grounds for complaint, any lawyer will tell you so. ;) I could be wrong but that’s what I’ve read.

Less of that please. He's doing you a favor.

As above^ lets not start a 'flame the newb to the forum session' please and get back to the subject matter.

Right talked him out of buying one from some random high street store since the PSU's sub £45 were not required power or un-branded etc. Suggested Seasonic S12 430W Silent or FSP Sparkle FSP400-60 Blue Storm 400W from OCuk, never owned either tbh so does that seem sound advice since many of you rave on about them two brands?

Think I’ve helped him enough tbh and will suggest he buys either one of them two mentioned. Thank you to all with the sensible reply’s, much appreciated advice & saves me trolling the entire forum all day for some kind of answer. :)

Lol amusing indeed and will show him that for a laugh.

My friend running no where near a power hungry system and his Q-tec was screwed up. Opend up the PSU (dont do this at home kids ;) ) and two parts inside have started to show signs of melting. :o Allthough i should add; he did'nt buy the Q-tec from OcUK and its not the 650w one either, next one down iirc. ;)
