Just noticed this pop up on Steam today. Obviously I don't need to mention which game it's clearly trying to take cues from, but it looks quite interesting for me. :)

It's a different mechanic, and seems to be getting quite positive comments. I enjoy first-person-puzzlers, so think I'll take a gamble on it. Anyone else going to? :p

Finished the first two sectors, and can recommend it. :) Great simple mechanic, but done very well.

Looking at the achievements, there aren't a massive number of sectors, but I'm sure the length and complexity of them will increase. That said, Portal isn't exactly the longest game in the world.

Images are on their. The one I have linked too is the booth they setup at uni. Scroll through them all to see them at E3, Value, talking to Epic Games, Indie-something or other etc...

I see they met notch too. Sharing their common love of hexahedrons. :p

Hoping it gets abit harder now and the other sectors will take me longer to solve.

It has so far for me, had some quite clever puzzles so far. Can't recommend it enough. :)

I just played the demo which was possibly the shortest demo I have ever played.

It's worse though because the solutions to puzzles are all insultingly obvious given that the movable blocks are all colour coded.

So you play the demo which is essentially tutorial puzzles to introduce you to the game mechanics, and write the whole game off for being too easy?

It's obvious that it draws influence from Portal, but I think comparing them directly seems a little unfair... One made by a three man start up company, the other by one of the biggest most successful names in the business?

The thing is...does this really matter to the end user? Do games become better just because they were made by a smaller team?

I didn't say I expected it to be better. I just expect people to cut a bit of slack when comparing a small three man team's efforts to that of a massive company. ;)

You all know that Portal was the result of Valve buying up and employing a small indie team who made a little puzzle game called Narbacular Drop, right?

It was a student team that were employed, and Narbacular drop was a uni project short tech demo, no where near the finished published game that portal (or even QUBE) is. The Portal team wasn't just these students either, it's a far bigger team of Experienced Valve employees with a large amount of funding.

I'm pretty far into the game now, the puzzles certainly don't have obvious answers any more and I've had great fun so far. I'm pretty surprised at how many people are trying to poo the efforts of a small first time indie team that have done a pretty good job of this.

Nothing wrong with constructive criticism, forum would be very dull if we all agreed :p

I think if everyone agreed with me I'd find it very boring. :p

Just find it a bit odd how people are writing the game off based on nothing but the tutorial/demo alone and comparing it to the efforts of a much larger and better funded team. ;)

I'm a way in now, and the puzzles are certainly getting taxing now. :)
