Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2

Q6600 @ 3.2ghz 1.3v (i think, max 1.4)
4ghz 6400 gskill ram
2 x Samsung 500gb in raid 0. 1 x samsung 500gb on its own
soundcard

upgrade gfx card to 4870x2

i've read a few threads via search and all things seem to indicate yes, except for one guy his psu went kaput. prob due to fault though.

Thanks in advance! :)

should do mate. i use that PSU and im basically running all of that minus the graphics card. currently running a 8800gts. but it should run fine ;)

Bear in mind, I just posted a similar thing on anotehr thread here, if you have the older HX 620W then you will not have the correct cables for a 4870x2. The 4870x2 takes 1 6-pin and 1 8-pin PCI-E connector.

The older HX 620W (like the one I have lying about somewhere in the house) only had 2x 6-pin PCI-E connectors, this is no good, the newer models have 1 6-pin and 1 6+2pin which is perfect. I think, if you have the older one, you can get a free cable off Corsair... but don't quote me on that. So check ya cables first dude!

will be fine, I'm running spec in sig, which is similar minus the quad core and sound card, and drawing 238W. I've seen it get just over 400W while running 3D Mark Vantage but that's as high as I've seen it.

Plug-in Mains Power Monitor

@keogh

Thanks for the info will open the baby up and take a peak.

/edit 2:

Just used: http://web.aanet.com.au/SnooP/psucalc.php on recommendation doing a google search and it said id be using maximum 500w while gaming. Apparently that website is a lil more accurate and i deliberately inflated a few figures to give myself some buffer. Looks like a 4870x2 + 27" monitor is on its way to my house for xmas :D:D:D

erm...that's pretty much the exact Power Monitor I use! Got mine from ******, can't remember the price, it wasn't too much though!

EDIT: My bad, ****** shouldn't have been used there!
