Q6600 @ 2.4 [Hot temps]

Yep, another one of joe's paranoid of temps threads. I know it's the stock cooler but jeese, aren't these temps a little overboard.

I left prime on for around 20 minutes and got these:

68
66
65
63

I've done a prime test before which i made a topic but after doing the test a few minutes ago, the past information is not correct.

Are these temps right? I know it's a stock cooler and i've heard people reaching 3Ghz with it.

Depending on which version of the Q6600 you have, those temps could be very good indeed. My pre-G0 Q6600 runs at just over 60C with an Ultra-120 Extreme so yours is nothing to worry about.

It should get to 3ghz without extra volts, so the temps might not go much higher.
With a Tuniq Tower, my B3 hits 70 @3.2 with a bump in v-core.
Don't worry to much about temps, mine hit 95 without a fan and is still working fine.(fan back on now!).

I would just get an aftermarket cooler for it.

To be honest i wouldnt dream of getting a quad with out.

I'm running my G0 Q6600 at stock with idle temps of 34 degrees. My guess is yourHS/Cooler ain't seated properly.

I do have a Akasa Evo 120, but it requires taking out the motherboard which i haven't got round to yet.
